You are probably here because you are looking for something that will help you with your goals of getting in shape. Perhaps you would like to eat healthier, lose weight, lose inches, exercise more, etc.... but are not sure how to proceed past the "I would like (fill in the blank)" statement. I see far too often individuals starting weight loss programs only to starve themselves and exercise until they are sick and depressed, and then quit because they are not seeing results. The fact is, you are feeling miserable and not seeing results simply because you have not been given the proper tools on how to eat healthy and exercise safely and effectively. I truly believe there are two main reasons why people do not reach their fitness goals. 1. They start off with the incorrect information and 2. They have nobody to hold them accountable to their goals and they lose motivation. What's Included?

Journey to Wellness: Home Edition is an online program that will give you many of the benefits that comes with hiring a personal trainer or group fitness instructor such as exercises, food plans and accountability, without the costs or scheduled time commitments. The program will begin on Monday, April 30th and continue for five weeks. We will conclude on June 3rd.

Journey to Wellness: Home Edition will include the following:
  • Cardio and Strength Training Fitness Programs with breakdown of exercises. (This is a base program and tweaks can be made based on your fitness levels - phone conversation is required for this.) Everyone is encouraged to push themselves but only do the exercises they are physcially capable of performing).
  • An easy to follow Meal Plan that lets you eat real food and allows for flexibility based on your likes and dislikes.
  • Accountability including a weekly weigh-in (if weight loss is your goal) and regular food/activity journal.
  • Tips and recipes to begin shedding inches quickly.
  • One 15-minute phone call / online chat per week if needed (by request).
  • Unlimited e-mails.
  • Fitness and/or Nutrition Challenges to keep you on your toes (regular checking of emails is required for this program).
  • A Facebook support group if you wish to meet and chat with other people on the same journey as you. (not required)

 The meal plan Deborah provided gave me the extra support I needed during a fitness challenge I was participating in. It provided a lot of alternatives and substitutions to keep me interested and her personal support and advice gave me a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses in my diet. Who Are You?

**IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ**

Because this program does not come with the face to face interaction or personalized service that comes with hiring me as your Personal Trainer or attending one of my fitness classes, this is NOT the program for you unless you are 100% ready to commit to doing what is expected of you over the next five weeks. So do a gut check now (pun intended) and make sure you are ready to commit before you register. I can't be there to check out your fridge, look you in the eye and ask you what you "really" ate for dinner last night when you show up obviously bloated for your morning workout (yes it happens) and I can't be there to push you to finish that last set of exercises when you just want to quit. So you have to really want to make a change and you have to be commited to doing so. That being said, I will be here for guidance, to answer any questions to have, to be a place to vent or talk things through and I WILL be here to keep you accountable. Just because we connect via computer doesn't mean you'll be able to escape what my clients both love and hate about me ... my "lovely" voice in your head whenever you think about eating something you aren't suppose to or sitting on the couch when you are suppose to be working out.

So who are you? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read these and make sure they apply to you!

  • You are a woman, man, husband, father, wife, mother, grandmother, etc... who want to lose pounds, inches or bodyfat.
  • You want to live a healther lifestyle.
  • You want to look and feel good in your skin and your clothing.
  • You have your doctor's permission to exercise.
  • You are willing to complete a medical questionnaire (everything is strictly confidential) and will sign a waiver technically saying you won't do anything stupid (don't worry, I won't ask you to do anything stupid).
  • You will commit to honestly completing a food and exercise journal daily.
  • You will commit to a minimum of 15-30 minutes per day to exercise. This is what is needed to see changes. If you can't find this time to devote to YOURSELF, you will not receive the full benefits from this program and it may not be for you.
  • If something isn't working for you, it is your responsibility to check in with me and let me know during the program.
  • You will take my advice but also understand that you know your body better than anyone and will only do what you know you are safely capable of doing. Also, I'm not a medical doctor and my advice should never be taken over that of your own physician.
  • You are 100% commited to making a change and you will take responsibility for your results. I will give you all the tools you need but unless you are willing to use them, you will not see the results you desire. A past client said it best (during her second attempt at the program where she successfully committed to every detail and saw results) "I think the program is only as good as the individul can make it. If I follow all the steps then I will be successful, if not then it is only my fault."  I don't coddle and I don't beg or plead. You understand that you are expected to put in the work, submit journals and follow the fitness program. I can keep you accountable but if you don't show me that you are putting 100% into it, you can't expect to get everything you are suppose to out of this program. I make suggestions on how to change your food or exercise and but if you don't incorporate those changes, I can't force you and again, you won't see the results you want.
  • You understand you can't take a magic pill to lose weight ... you understand that it only comes from dedication and a lot of hard work.

Location, Time Committment and Cost

Journey to Wellness: Home Edition can be done from absolutely anywhere! You could be one of my current class participants living in Fall River who just wants a little more of me telling them what to do (some people are crazy like that) or you could be someone I have never met before, living on the other side of the country. That's the joy of an online program such as this - it doesn't matter where you are! You also do not need access to a gym or spend a lot of money on expensive gym equipment. You need a computer, comfortable footwear, a small set of handheld weights, a stability ball (these are not required but would be useful) and a whole lot of determination!

You should probably commit anywhere from 20-45 minutes for workouts (bare minimum is 15 mins), but not necessarily every day and it of course can be broken up throughout the day to fit your schedule (i.e.) 15 minutes to do a portion of the workout in the morning and another 10 later that day to finish it off, another day could be a 30 minute walk with a friend, your spouse or a baby stroller. Some days would just be only cardio (i.e.) walking, other days would be your assigned workout (usually 15-20 minutes in length depending on how quickly you can get through the exercises, number of distractions, etc... Some days I could ask you to do both and of course, there will be rest days. You will also need to dedicate a little time to completing a DAILY food journal and planning/prepping your meals in advance (one of the best things you can do to succeed). It can be tough at first, especially if you are use to flying by the seat of your pants when it comes to meal planning but it becomes easier as you adjust to the program and if you stick with, will eventually just become a natural part of your day.

Now this is absolutely the best part ... I am offering everything above - the exercises, meal plans, challenges, recipes, support and accountability for the whole five weeks for ONLY $69.00Yep, honestly ... and that includes the tax!!

That is less than the cost of two personal training sessions but please remember, there are limited spaces on a first come first serve basis. This program fills every time and once I reach capacity, I have to close off the registration. This is not only for my own sanity (since I still take personal training clients, teach fitness classes and have two children), but I also want to be able to give everyone the best I can give. Trust me, nobody wants a grumpy, tired trainer!

Weighing in at 148lbs at 5'2" and my cholesterol through the roof I was told by my doctor that if I didn't start eating better and get some weight off I would be put on medication to help lower my cholesterol. I've heard what those meds can do to you and didn't want to have to go that route. So with the help of Deborah, she gave me a eating plan and exercises. Now keep in mind, I live in Calgary and she's in Nova Scotia so I didn't have her for the in-person personal training but did have her for the support and accountability. As stubborn as I was when it came to exercise I did follow the eating plan to a T. And I think what really helped to make me accountable was that I wrote down everything I ate daily and emailed it to Deborah every week. I even put notes in where I knew I went wrong some days because I knew that Deborah would be there to encourage me to do better and the notes made me more accountable for the upcoming week. Three months of following her plan, I lost 22lbs! I now sleep better, breath easier, can keep up with my 2 year old little girl and of course look a hell of a lot better. It's been nine months and I'm still maintaining that weight loss and with Deborah always there whether it be online or the phone, will maintain it.
